Substantial will settle the posts enough so they won’t move around while you’re utilizing the playground equipment. I would consider moving the legs back a little bit towards the edge of the frame. This would allow more gap between the starting position and the first rung. It’s a small issue though and they’re perfectly functional. The pine I bought was a bit rough in places so I used a block sander of 120 and 220 grit to smooth off the edges. I had some white exterior paint lying around so I ended up painting it in that to make sure it was waterproof.
Then form some 2X6s around the metal pole for concrete and pour a couple hundred pounds of concrete around the metal pole and the foot of the swingset. Then set the second board on the other set of supports the same way.Ask a helper or two to hold the boards in place so they don’t move around or shift. Measure down 6 inches from the top of one of your posts. Place the support on the interior side of the post with the largest face pressed against it. Make sure the edges are flush before securing the support to the post with 2 outdoor screws that are 3 inches (7.6 cm) long. Place the other supports on the remaining posts so they’re level and directly across from one another.

At first I tried my pillar drill but the speedbore sank into the wood far too quickly and just jammed up every time, regardless of how much I tried to control it. I ended up just clamping the timber in my vice and using a cordless drill for this part . In hindsight, I should have gone and swapped the bit for a spade bit and used the pillar drill. Place a 1-inch wood-boring bit in a power drill and create a 2-inch-deep hole in the face of each board at the locations of the pencil marks.
The sides of the top are made from two of the 2600mm lengths of pine and the first step was to figure out the spacing of the rungs, so I would know where to drill. Once we attached them we added the front 2×6 using bolts to go through to the otherside. Once we installed these posts, we attached the 2×6 so we knew where we wanted the other posts to be. How Far Off The Ground Should Monkey Bars Be?

In the end, I worked out a distance of 400mm between each bar, with 300mm clearance from the end. You cannot compare the dowels with 2x4s, to close the frame and add extra rigidity to the monkey bars. Fill the holes in the second board with epoxy glue and position the first piece of lumber so the poles align with the holes.

We put a level on each rug to make sure they were installed as straight as possible and used two screws on each side.
